Spurs boss Conte 'hugely disappointed' after late Sporting Lisbon winner

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte says he was "hugely disappointed" after his side suffered a shock 2-0 defeat against Sporting Lisbon in their Champions League opener.

Spurs fell behind in the 22nd minute when Paulinho slotted home from close range and were dealt a further blow when Marcus Edwards doubled the Portuguese side's lead in the 38th minute.

Conte admits Tottenham were 'second best'

Conte admitted that his side were not at their best against Sporting and said they were "second best" for much of the game.

"We started the game well but then we conceded two goals and the game became difficult for us," he said.

"We tried to come back in the second half but we found it difficult to find a way through."
