No beer - but Danny Röhl hoping for happy Wednesday hangover from Blades clash
Blades loan signing Danny Röhl is preparing to face his former club Rotherham United on Wednesday night with “a lot of respect” - and without the need for a beer or two to help him wind down after the game.
The German midfielder has joined Paul Heckingbottom’s squad on loan from Borussia Dortmund for the rest of the season - and he made an impressive debut in the 3-3 draw with Swansea City on Saturday.
Röhl played the full 90 minutes against the Swans, showing his range of passing and eye for a goal as he went close to scoring twice with long-range efforts.
The 21-year-old is now looking forward to facing Rotherham, the club he spent the first half of the season on loan with, at Bramall Lane on Wednesday night.
“It will be a strange feeling to go back to Rotherham,” Röhl admitted. “I had a really good time there and I made a lot of friends.
“But I’m a Sheffield United player now and I’m focused on getting three points for my new club.”
Röhl is hoping to make his full debut for the Blades against Rotherham, and he is confident that he can help the team continue their good form.
“I’m feeling good and I’m ready to play,” he said. “I think I can bring something different to the team and I’m confident that I can help us win games.
“We had a good result against Swansea and we’re now looking to build on that and push up the table.”
Röhl’s arrival at Bramall Lane has been greeted with excitement by Blades fans, and the German midfielder is keen to repay their faith.
“I’m really happy to be here and I’m looking forward to playing in front of the Blades fans,” he said. “I’ve heard a lot of good things about the atmosphere at Bramall Lane and I’m excited to experience it for myself.
“I’m going to give everything I’ve got for this club and I’m determined to help us achieve our goals.”
