Napoli Punishes Inter
Inter Miss Chance To Go Top
Napoli closed the gap on Serie A leaders Inter Milan to just one point after a 3-2 win at the San Siro on Sunday.
Despite taking an early lead through Edin Dzeko, Inter were pegged back by goals from Piotr Zielinski and Dries Mertens before the break.
Lautaro Martinez levelled for the hosts after the restart, but Napoli grabbed the winner through substitute Andrea Petagna in the 70th minute.
Napoli's Resurgence
Napoli's victory was their fourth in a row in Serie A and moved them up to second in the table, just one point behind Inter with two games remaining.
It was also a significant result for Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti, who has turned the team's fortunes around since taking over in February.
Spalletti's side have now won 10 of their last 12 league games and are in contention for a top-four finish and Champions League qualification.
Inter's Missed Opportunity
Inter's defeat was a blow to their hopes of winning a first Serie A title since 2011.
The Nerazzurri had the chance to go top of the table with a win, but they were unable to take advantage of their opportunity.
Inter have now lost three of their last four league games and their lead at the top of the table has been cut to just one point.
What's Next?
Inter will have the chance to bounce back when they travel to Cagliari on Wednesday.
Napoli, meanwhile, will host Genoa on Thursday.
