Manchester United Confidential: United Take Dim View of Amorim Questions
Outspoken Sporting Boss's Comments Not Going Down Well in Manchester
Manchester United's top brass are reportedly taking a dim view of Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim's recent comments about Cristiano Ronaldo, with one source describing them as "disrespectful" and "out of order".
In an interview with the Portuguese media, Amorim suggested that Ronaldo was no longer the player he once was and that he would not be a guaranteed starter if he were to return to Sporting.
The comments have not gone down well at Old Trafford, with one source close to the club telling The Sun: "The manager has made it clear that he has no problem with Ronaldo, but he also believes that he needs to be managed carefully."
Amorim's Comments Unfair and Unnecessary
The source added: "He's not the player he once was, but he's still a valuable member of the squad. Amorim's comments were disrespectful and out of order."
Another source close to the club said: "The manager is entitled to his opinion, but he should keep it to himself. He's not helping Ronaldo or the club by making these comments."
Ronaldo's Future Uncertain
Ronaldo's future at United is uncertain, with the 37-year-old reportedly keen to leave the club this summer.
The Portuguese forward has been linked with a move to a number of clubs, including Sporting, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich.
However, it is understood that United are reluctant to sell Ronaldo, and they will only let him go if they can recoup a significant fee.
