Kirby previews Newcastle match at Ashton Gate
Bristol City Women defender Ebony Salmon reacts to the challenge ahead as her team prepare to take on Newcastle United
A goal from Ebony Salmon helped Bristol City secure a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace last weekend. She was speaking to the press ahead of Bristol City’s game against Newcastle at Ashton Gate on Sunday.
“We’re all really excited for the game,” said Salmon. “Newcastle are a good side and it will be a tough test, but we’re confident that we can get the win.”
Salmon, 21, has been in impressive form for Bristol City this season. She has scored four goals in her last five games and has helped her team to fourth place in the Championship.
Newcastle are currently 10th in the table, but they have won their last two games. Salmon is expecting a tough match, but she is confident that Bristol City can get the win.
“We know that Newcastle are a good side, but we’re confident that we can get the win,” said Salmon. “We’re playing at home and we have a lot of quality in our team. We just need to go out there and play our game.”
Bristol City will be without the suspended Aimee Palmer for the game against Newcastle. Palmer is serving a one-match ban for a red card she received in the win over Crystal Palace.
Despite Palmer’s absence, Salmon is confident that Bristol City can get the win. “We have a lot of quality in our team and we’re all really excited for the game,” said Salmon. “We just need to go out there and play our game.”
