Indigenous Soldiers in World War I
During World War I, over 1,200 Indigenous soldiers from Canada served overseas, many of whom fought in the trenches of Ypres, Belgium.
These soldiers faced discrimination and prejudice, both at home and on the battlefield. However, they fought with distinction and courage, earning the respect of their fellow soldiers.
