Hull City player ratings vs West Brom as Tigers beaten again

Hull City's winless run was extended to seven games as they were beaten 2-0 by West Brom at The Hawthorns.

A goal in each half from Jed Wallace and Brandon Thomas-Asante was enough to earn the Baggies all three points and leave Hull still looking for their first win of the season. Hull made two changes to the side that lost at home to Wigan last weekend, with Harvey Vale and Benjamin Tetteh replacing Jacob Greaves and Ryan Longman. West Brom made one change to the side that beat Blackpool, with Wallace coming in for Tom Rogic. The Baggies started the game brightly and could have taken the lead in the first five minutes, but Wallace's shot was well saved by Matt Ingram. Hull grew into the game as the half went on and had a few chances of their own, with Tetteh and Óscar Estupiñán both going close. However, it was West Brom who took the lead in the 37th minute when Wallace fired home from close range after being set up by Andy Carroll. Hull came out fighting in the second half and had a great chance to equalise in the 55th minute, but Estupiñán's header was superbly saved by David Button. West Brom then doubled their lead in the 65th minute when Thomas-Asante headed home from a corner. Hull pushed for a way back into the game, but they were unable to find a breakthrough and West Brom held on to claim all three points.
