Heidenheim loses 1:3 to Wolfsburg – Bitter defeat in the fight for points
Heidenheim missed the chance to climb to fourth place in the 2nd Bundesliga on Friday evening. The team of coach Frank Schmidt lost their home game against VfL Wolfsburg II 1:3 (0:2) and thus suffered their second defeat of the season.
Wolfsburg took an early lead through a penalty converted by Patrick Wimmer in the 15th minute. Shortly before the break, Maximilian Philipp increased for the guests again (42nd). After the change of sides, Heidenheim came up better and Anschlusstreffer by Tim Kleindienst (55th). However, the compensation would not succeed. Instead, the Wolfsburg substitute Daniel Ginczek scored the 3:1 final score (75th).
With 36 points, Heidenheim remains eighth in the table. Wolfsburg, on the other hand, is in third place with 40 points. Next Saturday (March 4th, 3:30 p.m.), Heidenheim will play 1. FC Nürnberg away, while Wolfsburg will host FC St. Pauli.
