"Gladiator" on 3sat: Replay Online and on TV

The Oscar-winning epic "Gladiator" will be repeated on 3sat on August 19, 2023 at 8:15 p.m.

The film, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe, tells the story of the Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius, who is betrayed by the emperor Commodus and sold into slavery.

After years of fighting in the gladiatorial arena, Maximus returns to Rome to seek revenge on Commodus and restore honor to his family.

"Gladiator" was a critical and commercial success, winning five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Crowe.

The film is considered one of the greatest historical epics ever made and is still widely regarded today.
