Danilo in from the cold and Propper fresh start - How Rangers could look vs Hearts

Ahead of Rangers first competitive match of 2023, we look at how they could line up against Hearts tomorrow.

It’s been a long and arduous winter break for Rangers fans, but competitive football finally returns to Ibrox on Wednesday night as Hearts make the trip to Govan for a mouthwatering Scottish Premiership clash.

With Michael Beale taking charge of his first competitive fixture as Rangers manager, all eyes will be on his team selection and how he sets his side up against Robbie Neilson’s men.

In defence

Allan McGregor will continue between the sticks, with Jon McLaughlin injured and unlikely to feature until after the winter break. James Tavernier is a certainty to start at right-back, while Borna Barisic should continue at left-back.

The centre-back pairing is less certain. Connor Goldson and Ben Davies have been the preferred partnership in recent weeks, but John Souttar and Filip Helander are also options.

In midfield

Ryan Jack and Glen Kamara are likely to start in central midfield, with Malik Tillman playing in the number 10 role.

Fashion Sakala and Scott Wright are likely to start on the wings, with Alfredo Morelos leading the line.

Possible Rangers starting XI vs Hearts:

This is just one possible starting XI, and Beale could make changes depending on the fitness of his players and the tactics he wants to employ.
