Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has hailed the atmosphere at Celtic Park after his side's stunning 3-1 win over RB Leipzig on Thursday night.

Speaking to The Celtic Star, Rodgers said: "The atmosphere was incredible. It was one of the best atmospheres I've experienced in my time here and it really helped the players."

The Hoops produced a superb display to come from behind and beat the Bundesliga high-flyers, with goals from Moussa Dembele, Leigh Griffiths and Callum McGregor.

It was a famous victory for Celtic, who had never previously progressed beyond the Champions League group stages.

And Rodgers was keen to credit the Celtic fans for their role in the win.

"The fans were magnificent," he said. "They played a huge part in the victory. They created a fantastic atmosphere and really got behind the team.

"It was a special night for Celtic Football Club and I'm delighted for the players, the fans and everyone connected with the club."

Celtic will now face one of the seeded teams in the last 16, with the draw taking place on Monday.

Rodgers is confident his side can continue their impressive run in the competition.

"We've shown that we can compete with the best teams in Europe," he said.

"We're going into the knockout stages with confidence and we believe we can cause an upset."
