FC Barcelona maintained their position at the top of the table with a 1-0 win against Real Sociedad on Sunday thanks to a goal by Robert Lewandowski.
The result means that Barcelona remains two points ahead of Real Sociedad, who are now in second place. Real Madrid is a further point behind in third place.
The win was Barcelona’s eighth in a row in all competitions and their fifth in a row in LaLiga. They have now won 14 of their 19 league games this season, drawing four and losing just one.
Real Sociedad has played one game less than Barcelona and has a game in hand over their rivals. However, they have now lost three of their last four league games and will need to improve their form if they want to challenge for the title.
In other news, Bayern Munich extended their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to four points with a 4-1 win over Hertha Berlin on Saturday.
The win was Bayern’s eighth in a row in all competitions and their fifth in a row in the Bundesliga. They have now won 14 of their 19 league games this season, drawing four and losing just one.
Robert Lewandowski scored twice for Bayern, taking his tally for the season to 23. Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman also scored for the champions.
RB Leipzig is now in second place, four points behind Bayern. Borussia Dortmund is a further point behind in third place.
